EBBS mourns the passing of Larry Weiskrantz.
Larry was the founding president of EBBS and Emeritus Professor at Oxford. His career has been incredibly long and his achievements pioneered the interdisciplinary approach to the study of the brain and behavior relationships . He is credited with the discovery of blindsight, the demonstration of implicit memory, and the identification of the amygdala as pivotal structure in affective functions.
Those who have had the privilege to know Larry fondly remember the magnificent scientist, the quiet source of inspiration, and the continual support to young scientists. He brought things into our lives and into science that were both unique and unexpected in many different ways. And he did it gently and modestly.
