My research activities are focused on the functional anatomy of neuronal circuits underlying emotions. In particular, I am interested in neural mechanisms of socially transferred emotions of positive and negative valence. In my group we investigate neural representations of emotional states of interacting animals focusing mainly on the role of specific neuronal circuits in the central amygdala activated by socially transferred emotions. We also test central amygdala – specific neuronal plasticity and the possibilities of therapeutic intervention in mice models of synaptopathies relevant to autism spectrum disorders.
